LIFT WC, in partnership with Spangler Automotive, will host a community End of Summer Block Party this Saturday on the 700 block of Second Street and will include a bags tournament and an outdoor concert featuring local artists. Monies raised will benefit the LIFT WC organization and assist with the revitalization of the historic Elks Building.
Bags tournament
The bags tournament will kick off at 2 pm with two divisions – Youth and Adult. Cost to participate is $20 per team. The winning team from each division will receive 50 percent of the registration fees. To register a team, Facebook message the LIFT WC organization or email darcy@liftwc.org with the team name, participants and, if youth, the grade the players are in.
The American Legion will be providing bacon cheddar pork burgers and brat patties from Webster City Custom Meats, all-beef hotdogs and chips. Water, soda and beer will be available. IDs will be required to purchase alcohol. Beverages will be available starting at 2 p.m. with food service to start after 4 p.m.
Fire and Ice Delights will also be on site selling kettle corn and lemonade.
39 Designs LLC created custom bag boards and raffle tickets will be available to purchase during the event to win the set complete with bags. Cost is $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20. The winning ticket will be drawn around 7 p.m.
Open air concert
The outdoor concert will start at 6:30 p.m. and will feature the following local artists: Mellissa and Mark Gillette, Ismael Gomez, Tucker Judkins Trio, Leo Lovesong, Gianna Borer, Shannon Swon (with special guest Cole Hilpipre) and Humble Beginnings (Dane Barner, Jayce Abens, Eric Hanson and Lane Jahn). The artists will play a mix of covers and original music.
Those planning to attend the events are asked to bring lawn chairs and/or blankets to sit on. There is a limited number of picnic tables available in front of the American Legion.
TMI Services will provide porta potties for use during the event.
LIFT WC is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that is the result of a group of volunteers coming together to grow and support the social and economic prosperity of Webster City. Their goal is to identify and develop catalytic projects, services and programs that build the social infrastructure of Webster City.
